COACHING PHILOSOPHY
Simplify to Perform Better
Every player is unique. Their swing should respect their body type, physical abilities, experience and goals.
The objective of coaching is not to impose a model, but to build an efficient, natural and repeatable movement.
A SWING ADAPTED TO THE PLAYER
There is no single way to swing a golf club. The most effective movement is the one that matches each player's physical and biomechanical capabilities.
Analyzing the swing, movement, balance and physical abilities makes it possible to identify the adjustments that are genuinely useful. It also takes the player's current health and personal history into account.
SIMPLIFY TO BUILD CONSISTENCY
Under pressure, the most effective technique is the one the player can reproduce naturally.
Simplifying the fundamentals and developing reliable reference points helps build consistency, accuracy and confidence without unnecessarily rebuilding the swing. Specific exercises support this work.
THE BODY AS PART OF PERFORMANCE
Speed, coordination, stability, mobility, power and balance directly influence the efficiency of the movement.
Coaching takes these factors into account to build a swing that is better adapted to the player, more efficient and more sustainable.
Physical preparation and muscular endurance aim to improve distance, accuracy and scores while limiting fatigue and reducing the risk of injury.
MENTAL GAME & EMOTIONS
Performance is not based on technique alone. Visualization, concentration, confidence, emotional management and the quality of decision-making directly influence performance on the course.
The objective is to help the player maintain simple, reliable reference points, including under pressure. Strategy adapts to the greens, pin positions and hazards of each course.
Overcoming fear and frustration, staying in the present moment and rediscovering the joy of playing are part of this approach. Charles Rey is also the author of Emotions - How to Manage Them.
THE PRINCIPLES OF COACHING
- Simplifying the technical fundamentals
- Building movement methodically in accordance with the player's physical and anatomical characteristics
- Developing reliable kinesthetic reference points to check, adjust, memorize and repeat the swing
- Understanding and adjusting biomechanical factors; developing swing awareness through kinesiology
- Imagery, visualization and self-talk
- Confidence, self-esteem and emotional management
- Developing a natural, efficient and repeatable movement
